Our Music Ministry

Music is an integral part of our worship service – an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and religious expression. The music program, directed by Karen R. Miller, includes an adult choir, children’s music, and special concerts sponsored by the Music Committee. Karen began her work with our church during the Advent season of 2007 and has continued to serve our congregation with music and education. Karen leads the adult choir, accompanies for events in the church and provides music for weddings and other services, as requested.
The Music Committee
Our committee supports the role of Music in Worship by assisting and advising the Music Director and Minister in a variety of ways. We meet quarterly to review the plans for music for the upcoming months. The committee often sponsors concerts, and works with area musicians, from time to time, to encourage the use of the sanctuary for musical expression. The annual Messiah SingAlong is one example of the work supported by our committee.
Our Music Director
In November of 2007, we completed a search and filled our position of Music Director and Church Organist. We were delighted to find Karen R. Miller, previously Music Director and Organist at the East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church. Karen joined our church at the Advent Season and has continued to serve our congregation with music and education.
Adult Choir
Our dedicated adult choir meets weekly during the academic year and sings at the 9:30 a.m. service. We sing from a repertoire that includes modern, traditional, and folk music. All are welcome to join the choir at any point of the year and can make initial contact by talking to our Music Director, Karen Miller, after a service, or by calling the church office. Choir practice takes place at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday, September into June.
Children’s Music
Our Sunday school students enjoy music with their leaders and often sing for our services. In the past, the church has had a youth choir as well.
